Dee Dee Bridgewater has always been a versatile singer, ranging in her career from r&b to soul but with her foundation in straight ahead jazz and blues.

In 2015 she teamed up with trumpeter Irvin Mayfield’s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra to record a fine album.

This is the video of Dee Dee recording the vintage New Orleans folk song “House Of The Rising Sun” with trumpeter Mayfield and his rhythm section in the studio.

The performance becomes more passionate and dramatic as it progresses in memorable fashion.
