Although she was not the first, Esperanza Spalding mastered the difficult art of playing bass and singing at the same time.
While some of her recent projects are more in the r&b field, she always has the potential to be one of the top jazz singers.
This performance from the San Sebastian Jazz Festival on July 23, 2009, has Spalding playing a song apiece on electric and acoustic bass, singing and starring throughout with her band of the time.
