In 2023, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Bill Charlap often performed as a vocal-piano duet, and they consistently brought out the best in each other.

Neither ever coasted, they both constantly took chances, and they played off of each other in adventurous but swinging fashion.

A good example of their magical interplay can be heard and seen on this performance from a 2023 International Jazz concert.

On “I’m Beginning To See The Light,” they function very much as equals while supplying plenty of creativity and wit.
