At the Jazz Baltica 2003, guitarist Pat Metheny teamed up with trombonist Nils Landgren and the masterful tenor-saxophonist Michael Brecker in a sextet.
Metheny and Brecker first teamed up together on records for a Joni Mitchell set in 1979
They also recorded together on Metheny’s 80/81 and on five of the tenor’s albums.
On “Impressions,” trombonist Landgren takes an impressive solo, Brecker blows the roof off the concert hall, pianist Esbjorn Svensson contributes a creative statement, and Metheny brings the performance to a climax.
Bassist Lars Danielsson and drummer Wolfgang Haffner keep the ensembles passionate and stirring.
