A major swing stylist ever since he arrived on the scene in the mid-1970s, one could say that the comeback of small group swing began when tenor-saxophonist Scott Hamilton showed that the music was not confined to survivors of the swing era.
He has been remarkably consistent throughout his career, never making an unworthy recording or veering away from playing high-quality swing tunes.
Scott Hamilton has been based in Europe since the 1990s, playing with all types of excellent pick-up groups.
The Dutch Swing College Band has been active since the mid-1940s, possibly the longest-running jazz bands in the world although their personnel has obviously changed through the years.
Hamilton is showcased on “Indiana” with backing by rhythm guitarist Ton van Bergeijk, bassist Adrie Braat, and drummer Anton Burger.
The tenor is joined by trumpeter Keesjan Hoogeboom, trombonist Maurits Wouldenberg, and Bob Kaper and David Lukács on clarinets for the two joyful closing choruses.
