This fun film clip features an encore performance at the end of a Jazz At The Philharmonic concert that took place in Europe in 1957.

Ella Fitzgerald, who is accompanied by pianist Oscar Peterson, guitarist Herb Ellis, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Jo Jones, starts off “It Don’t Mean A Thing” by singing the words and then scatting.

She is followed by violinist Stuff Smith (in excellent form), a restrained Peterson, Ellis, and the muted trumpet of Roy Eldridge.

Ella then steals the show with her creative scatting, driving the performance to a close.
