In his career, Marty Grosz kept the legacy of Carl Kress and 1930s guitar players alive with his chordal playing on the acoustic guitar, sang a bit like Fats Waller, displayed a very fertile wit, and enjoyed reviving superior obscurities from the 1920s and ‘30s.
For this version of “It’s A Sin To Tell A Lie,” he is joined by Dan Block on soprano and clarinet, Scott Robinson playing a curved soprano sax, and Vince Giordano on string bass and bass sax.
The results are delightful and swinging.
