“Jingle Bells,” which was originally titled “The One Horse Open Sleigh,” was composed by James Lord Pierpont in 1857.

It was recorded as early as 1889 and by the early 1900s was among the most popular Christmas songs; “Jingle Bells” would be recorded by jazz artists many times through the years.

On Christmas Eve in 2023, pianist Emmet Cohen performed a loose and joyful jam session version.

He is joined by both Phillip Norris and Paul Sikivie on basses, drummer Matt Wilson, trumpeter Benny Benack III, tenor-saxophonist Tivon Pennicott, and clarinetist Jeff Lederer plus singers Georgia Heers, Alex Wright, June Cavlan, Kate Kortum, and Joie Bianco.
