Although they had complementary cool tones and boppish styles, tenor-saxophonist Stan Getz and trumpeter-singer Chet Baker only played together on rare occasions during their careers; they personally did not get along with each other.
However they were at peace during a classic concert from Stockholm on Feb. 18, 1983 which was fortunately filmed.
With pianist Jim McNeely, bassist George Mraz and drummer Victor Lewis in the quintet, Chet Baker is the star of “Just Friends,” singing and playing a trumpet solo with shorter spots for McNeely and Getz.
