Flugelhornist Clark Terry, who had an immediately distinctive tone that could be considered the happiest sound in jazz, spent much of the 1950s as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
He performs Ellington’s “Just Squeeze Me” in Copenhagen with two Americans who had moved permanently overseas (pianist Duke Jordan and former Ellington bassist Jimmy Woode) plus drummer Svend E. Norregaard.
In addition to the flugelhorn and piano solos, Terry and Woode close the piece with a surprising vocal duet.
