“Mi va di cantare” – in English, “I want to sing” – is a composition by Vincenzo Buonassisi, Marino Marini, George Bertero and Aldero Valleroni. At this, its debut, Louis Armstrong, alongside Lara Saint Paul, would launch their own interpretations of the piece.

Louis Armstrong is a celebrated singer, trumpet playing, as well as activist. Prior to his taking the spotlight among pop luminaries of his time, jazz had been more often associated with large bands playing – not, as he would showcase, a solo performer.
