At a concert that was a guitar summit that also featured John Scofield, Larry Coryell and John Abercrombie, Larry Carlton is showcased on “Misty.”

While he was normally heard in funkier settings, Carlton swings well during a medium-tempo rendition of the Erroll Garner classic, coming up with bluesy ideas and a light rockish tone that works just fine on the standard.

Playing mostly chordal guitar in a supportive role is Tal Farlow while bassist John Patitucci and drummer Billy Hart contribute tasteful accompaniment for Carlton.
