Armstrong with the last version of his All-Stars

By 1968, Louis Armstrong had been a major trumpeter, singer and entertainer for 45 years.

His health was starting to fail and he would soon have to largely give up the trumpet, but he was still able to play well enough and put on a typically joyful show during the early part of 1968.

For an appearance on British television, Armstrong led the last version of his All-Stars (which included trombonist Tyree Glenn, clarinetist Joe Muranyi, pianist Marty Napoleon, bassist Buddy Catlett, and drummer Danny Barcelona

They perform W.C. Handy’s “Ole Miss” with each of the All-Stars being briefly featured.
