In 1958, the Art Ford Jazz Show was a 90-minute weekly television program that featured top jazz artists playing in a jam session setting.

While some of those programs no longer exist, it is amazing to see the surviving shows today.

On July 10, 1958, Billie Holiday (who appeared on the show four times) was accompanied by a four-piece rhythm section with pianist Mal Waldron, guitarist Mary Osborne, bassist Vinnie Burke, and drummer Osie Johnson singing “Foolin’ Myself,” “Easy To Remember,” and “What A Little Moonlight Can Do.”

Although she was only a year away from her passing, Lady Day is in pretty good form and happy spirits during this classic performance.
