The longest-running jazz group in the world, the still-active Dutch Swing College Band, was founded by saxophonist and clarinetist Peter Schilperoort in 1945.

Based in the Netherlands but also performing throughout Europe, the group has primarily played Dixieland and made many recordings during its 80 year history, sometimes with American guests.

Obviously none of the original members are still in the group (Schilperoort passed away in 1990) but the Dutch Swing College Band’s sound has remained largely unchanged

The 1988 version of the group is featured playing a rousing version of “Original Dixieland One Step.”

The musicians are Peter Schilperoort on tenor, cornetist Sytze van Duin, trombonist Bert Boeren, clarinetist Bob Kaper (who would succeed Schilperoort as leader), pianist Fred Murray, bassist Adrie Braat, and drummer Huub Janssen.
