Dizzy Gillespie

Quite an all-star group

It may have just been another gig for the musicians, but decades later it is musical magic.

On a simple Dizzy Gillespie tune, a band of true individualists at a European festival in 1988 get their moments to solo.

Trumpeters Harry “Sweets” Edison, Clark Terry and Gillespie in addition to tenor-saxophonist Clifford Jordan and pianist Oscar Peterson each sound quite individual and are instantly recognizable as does Louie Bellson while bassist Dave Young gives the group solid support.

Dizzy in particular sounds very good for this late in his career but all of the soloists are excellent.
