At the 1977 Montreux Jazz Festival, producer Norman Granz presented two nights featuring the many all-stars who were on the Pablo label.
The music came out on records and fortunately the performances were also filmed.
The musicians were clearly inspired by each other as one can hear and see during this hard-swinging version of “Pennies From Heaven” which alternates between two different keys.
Featured are flugelhornist Clark Terry (sounding quite exuberant), vibraphonist Milt Jackson, tenor-saxophonist Ronnie Scott, guitarist Joe Pass (playing a dazzling solo while making it seem effortless), and pianist Oscar Peterson with bassist Niels Pedersen and drummer Bobby Durham supporting the lead players.
