Darcy James Argue emerged in the early 21st century as one of the most inventive and imaginative jazz arrangers on the scene.
Proof of his talents can be heard on “Phobos” with his 18-piece Secret Society big band.
While the cajon is usually used in Afro-Cuban music, Jon Wikan begins this piece with a haunting solo that sounds as if it inhabits its own world.
This thoughtful piece also features Mark Small on tenor.
