Ron Eschete passed away on May 20, 2026 at the age of 77.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1948 in Houma, Louisiana, taking up the guitar when he was 14.

Eschete studied classical guitar at Loyola University in New Orleans, spent 1969-70 in Las Vegas working with singer Buddy Greco, and then moved to Los Angeles.

An important part of the Southern California jazz scene for a half-century, and an instructor at the Guitar Institute of Technology and Cal State Long Beach, Eschete worked with such notables as Gene Harris, Dave Pike, Ernestine Anderson, Ray Brown, Joey DeFrancesco, Diana Krall, Milt Jackson, Jack McDuff and Gerry Wiggins.

Eschete, who led over 15 albums of his own, was frequently heard with jazz combos playing at small jazz clubs.

He is featured performing “Street Of Dreams” in a trio with John Urban on bass and John Ferraro on drums in 2025.
