Remembering Ronald Weingrad

April 3, 1929 – February 16, 2024

A tribute to a jazz fan

Ronald Weingrad passed away on Feb. 16, 2024, at the age of 94.

He was born in Philadelphia on Apr. 3, 1929.

Weingrad graduated from the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising.

He served in the Army in the early 1950s, being stationed in Germany where he was an Army Special Agent in Counterintelligence.

Ronald Weingrad worked for many years as an advertising consultant and the owner of a printing company.

He had interests in many areas including opera, horse racing, movies, and World War II. history, fishing, collecting art, the theatre, bullfighting, cooking, exercising, and traveling.

Although mostly living in Philadelphia, he and his wife Patricia, who were married for 65 years, had a second home in Florida and lived in Spain for a year.

A big jazz fan who particularly loved Louis Armstrong, it is requested that donations in Ronald Weingrad’s name be made to Jazz On The Tube, P.O. Box 145, Tivoli, NY 12583.

Here is a fairly rare television clip of Louis Armstrong and Dean Martin singing together; Martin clearly did not mind Armstrong stealing the show.

This tribute is sponsored by Merle Raab (merleraab@msn.com).
