Pianist Matthew Shipp, who has been quite prolific throughout his career, consistently plays improvised music that is thought-provoking, leaves space, and is quite personal.

From 2014, his “Root Of Things” (the title cut of an album from the period) features him performing fairly freely with bassist Michael Bisio and drummer Whit Dickey.
