The brilliant pianist Chucho Valdes founded Irakere, Cuba’s finest music group, in 1973.

From the 1980s, this clip features Irakere playing a soul jazz tune that could have been from the mid-1960s.

Valdes brings in the likable song, there is some hot double-time trumpet playing by Mario “El Indio” Hernandez Morejon, and an inventive tradeoff by Morejon and Valdes on electric piano.
