One of the finest pianists of all time, Oscar Peterson was fortunately quite prolific throughout his career, both in his endless tours and his hundreds of recordings.

He led several notable trios along the way including this often-overlooked unit with bassist Dave Young and drummer Martin Drew.

Peterson always loved playing “Satin Doll,” even in his later years when health problems slowed him down.

This 1988 performance finds Peterson still in prime form, obviously having a good time with the Duke Ellington-Billy Strayhorn classic.
