At Guitar Night at Birdland in 2022, a trio of masterful bop-oriented guitarists jammed together.
With support by bassist Gary Mazzaroppi and drummer Vince Cherico (both of whom also take short solos), the guitarists performed “Seven Come Eleven,” originally a showcase for Charlie Christian with the Benny Goodman Sextet .
Olli Soikkeli, a Finnish guitarist who has been based in New York since 2014, sounds smooth and solid, creating ideas that flow.
Pasquale Grasso displays his mastery of the bebop vocabulary while Frank Vignola takes honors by playing a lot of speedy runs that really cook.
