Miles Davis performs his composition “So What” featuring an opening bass line written by Gil Evans.
It was one of the tunes released in August 1959 on Davis’ “Kind of Blue”, an album which stands to this day as the best selling jazz record of all time.
The “Miles Davis Quintet” are featured backed by Gil Evans’ Orchestra during a live TV broadcast that originally aired on April 2, 1959.
