“Spain” is Chick Corea’s most famous composition.

The keyboardist first recorded “Spain” with the original version of Return To Forever in 1972, the group that included not only Corea and Stanley Clarke but Joe Farrell, Airto Moreira, and Flora Purim.

While “Spain” was performed live the following year when Return To Forever was an electric quartet with guitarist Bill Connors, it was not in the regular repertoire of the most famous version of Return To Forever with guitarist Al DiMeola.

This live rendition, from a 2008 reunion concert, gives one a very rare opportunity to see Corea with Clarke, DiMeola, and drummer Lenny White performing “Spain.”

While the technical quality is a bit rough, this is a historic film clip full of enthusiasm.
