Many consider Jaco Pastorius (1951-87) to be the greatest electric bassist ever; certainly he was a major influence on nearly all of those who have followed.
On this performance from Italy in 1986, just a year before his death, Pastorius displays his dazzling technique and creativity on his song “Teen Town.”
Also in the trio is guitarist Bireli Lagrene (famous for his Django Reinhardt-inspired playing but a versatile player who was exploring fusion at the time) and drummer Thomas Borocz.
