Trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, one of the most innovative of all jazz artists, always loved leading a big band.

His orchestra of 1946-49 set the standard for his later short-term big bands.

“Things To Come” was always among the highpoints of any Gillespie orchestra performance.

This version, from a 1968 tour of Europe, features the leader, pianist Mike Longo, tenor-saxophonist Paul Jeffrey, and some rousing ensembles.
