The Count Basie Orchestra first recorded “Tickle-Toe” in 1940 with a performance featuring the great tenor-saxophonist Lester Young.
77 years later, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra revived Andy Gibson’s original arrangement, opening up the music a bit.
The swinging performance features some brief trumpet work from Ryan Kisor, a tenor battle by Julian Lee and Victor Goines, and a trombone tradeoff featuring Chris Crenshaw and Elliot Mason.
