You Asked For It is a long forgotten television series from the early 1950s that was hosted by Art Baker.
On one episode in 1953, a reader asked for a top Dixieland band, and he got his wish.
A septet consisting of trombonist Jack Teagarden, trumpeter Charlie Teagarden, clarinetist Matty Matlock, tenor-saxophonist Eddie Miller, pianist Stan Wrightsman, bassist Phil Stephens, and drummer Nick Fatool are featured playing an ensemble-oriented “Tin Roof Blues” and a hot uptempo version of “Struttin’ With Some Barbecue.”
The latter has half-chorus solos from each musician other than Fatool who gets a break near its close.
Imagine seeing this on television.
