A powerful alto-saxophonist inspired by John Coltrane, Lakecia Benjamin began her career playing Latin music before she studied with Gary Bartz, Billy Harper, Reggie Workman and others.

While she gained experience performing with Clark Terry, the Count Basie Orchestra, Jimmy Heath, Charles Tolliver, Gregory Porter, and r&b groups, she has really made her mark as a bandleader.

Her passionate playing is featured on “Trane” with her quartet in 2022.
