One of the top trumpeters to emerge from the classic bebop era of 1945-49, Kenny Dorham had a busy 25 years.

He was the trumpeter with the Charlie Parker Quintet during 1948-49, was an original member of the Jazz Messengers, worked with the Max Roach Quintet, and led the Jazz Prophets; he also helped discover Joe Henderson.

Dorham recorded many rewarding sessions as a leader and was one of the key trumpeters who bridged the gap between bebop and hard bop.

He seems to have only been filmed during one engagement, when he appeared at a club in Scandinavia in 1963.

Here is a rare bit of Dorham, performing an unidentified jazz waltz with pianist Goran Lindberg, bassist Goran Peterson and drummer Leif Wennerstron.
