In 2021, on International Jazz Day, flutist Hubert Laws, pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Ben Williams, and drummer Justin Tyson performed a special version of “Windows.”
“Windows” was one of Chick Corea’s finest compositions.
Corea had recently passed away and, since Laws and Hancock were two of his longtime friends, and Laws had first recorded “Windows” with Corea in the 1960s, this is a touching performance.
The flutist plays beautifully, and Hancock, while not trying to emulate Corea, improvises in a complementary style.
