A talented alto-saxophonist from Austria, Karolina Strassmayer was originally inspired by Cannonball Adderley.
She moved to New York, worked with Chico Hamilton, and performed with Clark Terry, Phil Woods, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Claudio Roditi, and DIVA among others.
Moving back to Europe, she has been a member of the WDR Big Band since 2004.
The altoist performs her modern jazz original “Wonder” with the rhythm section of the WDR Big Band: pianist Billy Test (who takes an outstanding solo), bassist John Goldsby, and drummer Hans Dekker.
