Four of the all-time great trumpeters each have their say on a medium-tempo blues

At the 1990 Bern Jazz Festival, four remarkable trumpeters shared the stage.
They performed a medium-tempo blues in their own boppish styles while joined by a rhythm section that included pianist Renee Rosnes.
Wynton Marsalis, who was 28 at the time, takes a relatively restrained solo, Arturo Sandoval starts out that way before blowing the roof off, James Morrison (a master from Australia) shows that he can hold his own with the others, and Jon Faddis (who quotes “West End Blues”) is as spectacular as always.
The trumpeters trade fours with plenty of passion and some humor, and it is quite enjoyable to see their reactions to each other.
The jam concludes with the melody line of “Billie’s Bounce” and a large ovation from the crowd.
