Composed by Victor Herbert in 1919, “Indian Summer” has since become a jazz standard. Coleman Hawkins would first cover it in 1945, and jazz greats like Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul Desmond and the Gene Krupa Orchestra would pick it up over the years.
In the '50s, Hawkins, a sax luminary, would perform with Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown and Ben Webster.
