Written by Ted Koehler and Harold Arlen in 1933, it was first recorded by Ethel Waters at the legendary Cotton Club – a hotbed for musical influence in the '30s. Since it's been covered by Billy Holiday and Frank Sinatra. In 2004 the Library of Congress added the song to the National Recording registry.
