Have you ever wondered what the oldest existing form of Afro-American music is?
Wonder no more.
This music goes all the way back to pre-Civil War times.
Every heard the expression "rock all night long?"
The rock and rollers of the 1950s did not invent it. It was over 100 years old by the time they came along.
This music - created in a Protestant environment that didn't tolerate the drums - is a great example of the difference between Afro-American and Afro-Latin music.
No drums here.
Or are there?
You see...
"The floor takes the place of the drum."
