One of the world’s great flute players Hubert Laws performs a duet with guitarist Russell Malone as part of a CTI All Star concert in 2010.
Laws became famous for his recordings for the CTI label in the 1970s and, although he has not recorded often enough as a leader in recent times, he continues to play at the peak of his powers.
During his equally impressive career Russell Malone, who was too young to be on those CTI dates (George Benson was the regular guitarist), has proven to be of equal stature.
With Malone as the perfect accompanist, Laws performs exquisite versions of “Sophisticated Lady” and “Quiet Nights”; plenty of subtle fireworks take place during this magical performance.
