Trumpet player, conductor, composer, and educator Jon Faddis was born on July 24, 1953 in Oakland, California.

At only 18, Faddis joined the big band of vibraphone legend Lionel Hampton. He later transitioned into studio work, where he played on a variety of pop recordings.

Faddis returned to jazz as a leader in the late ‘70s and has continued since, even leading the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band from 1992 to 2002.

He proceed to join "Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra", worked with Charles Mingus, and became a noted studio musician in New York all before he was twenty-five.

After contributing to many popular recordings during the late 1970s and early '80s by mid-decade Faddis started to focus on working as a solo artist.

He has since risen through the ranks to become a premier jazz conductor who has led
the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band for more than forty concerts in ten years.

Additionally Jon Faddis has performed and directed bands at venues including the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, the Newport Jazz Festival, and the Performing Arts Center in Westchester, New York.

Jon Faddis is featured at Internationale Jazzwoche Burghausen in Wackerhalle, Germany in March 2013.
