Joshua Redman grew up in Berkeley California where he was a member of the award winning Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble through four years of high school.
The son of jazz saxophonist Dewey Redman, he was exposed to many different styles of music early in life.
Following his graduation from Harvard University, with a degree in Social Studies in 1991 Joshua Redman moved to New York where he became immersed in the jazz scene gigging regularly with leading musicians including Pat Metheny, Billy Higgins, Roy Hargrove, Charlie Haden, and Christian McBride.
