An outstanding interpretation of a Michael Brecker piece

The University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band has consistently been one of the top college big bands, able to play the most complex charts with apparent ease.
The 2011 version of the band, directed by Steve Wiest, was filmed during part of a recording session.
One of the more adventurous pieces (arranged by Kevin Swaim) performed at the session was Michael Brecker’s “Modus Operandy.”
With strong solos from the tenor-saxophonist (whose style is complementary to Brecker’s) and the trombonist, the One O’Clock Lab Band takes the Brecker original and builds it up to an impressive climax.
