As a singer, pianist and songwriter, Mose Allison was always in his own musical category.
His voice made one think of him as being a country blues singer (possibly form the 1930s), his piano playing was an eccentric brand of modern jazz, and his songs were full of homespun wisdom that were both traditional and contemporary.
In this clip from the 1970s, Mose Allison romps through his cautionary “If You’re Going To The City.”
