Nat King Cole performs a stirring rendition of the ballad "There Will Never Be Another You" on a 1956 episode of his short-lived NBC TV show.
The show was the first to feature a black host, which stirred controversy and led to difficulty in acquiring corporate sponsors. Despite the show's outstanding array of musical talent – including Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and Eartha Kitt – Cole cancelled the program a year after its debut, claiming that "Madison Avenue is afraid of the dark."
