Sonny Rollins performs "Four" at this 1968 concert in Denmark.
Rollins is joined by Danish bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and American expats Kenny Drew and Albert "Tootie" Heath. In the 1960s, Copenhagen became a haven for American jazz musicians seeking an escape from stifling recording contracts, racism, and a growing American disinterest in the genre.
Other musicians who relocated to Denmark include Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, and Stuff Smith.
