I'm not sure who came up with this one, presumably someone at the festival, but I'm glad they did.
Thelonious Monk and Joe Turner sot down at two pianos and run through "Blues for Duke" at the Berlin Jazz Festival in 1969.
Though Monk is known for his role in the development of bebop and his distinctive avant-garde approach to the instrument, he could play barrelhouse piano with the best of them.
A very interesting pairing to say the least.
