Hancock, Hubbard and Henderson on a classic version of the jazz standard

When pianist Herbie Hancock originally recorded “Cantaloupe Island” in 1964, he utilized a quartet with trumpeter Freddie Hubbard (who actually played cornet on the first version), bassist Ron Carter and drummer Tony Williams.
The same group, with tenor-saxophonist Joe Henderson added, performed “Cantaloupe Island” at the famed 1985 Blue Note reunion concert.
Decades later, it is a bit of a thrill to see Freddie Hubbard and Joe Henderson in top form, stretching out with the classic rhythm section.
