"Jazz 625," 1965
In the wakes of Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt came John “Wes” Montgomery to redefine jazz guitar in America. At the time of this recording Montgomery was already smoking the critic polls – winning DownBeat magazine's award for best Jazz guitar from '60 to '63, and in '66 and '67.
Legendary rock guitarists Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan would count Montgomery among their influences.
Personnel:
Wes Montgomery, guitar
Melvin Rhyne, piano
