Sleepy John Estes (guitar & vocals), and Hammie Nixon (jug & kazoo) perform live in 1976.

Narcoleptic blues singer and guitarist John Estes nickname “Sleepy” for his condition made his recording debut in 1929. The Memphis blues man became renowned for his distinct crying vocals. Despite the claim made by Big Bill Broonzy that Estes had died he was discover in 1962 by Bob Koester and Samuel Charters, blind and living in poverty, but still very much alive.
