During a late 1960’s performance, Lightnin’ Hopkins plays the blues standard “Goin’ Down Slow.”

The guitar style incorporated by Lightnin’ Hopkins was directly derived from Blind Lemon Jefferson. He would accompany the legendary Texas blues man playing second guitar for informal church gatherings when he was still in his teens. The training and experience from his famous mentor were undoubtedly responsible in part for Lightnin’s later success.
